Lake Proserpine – Pipe Relining
Culvert Extension and Pipe Relining
Project Scope:
The existing corrugated steel pipe at Station Road, Lake Proserpine had corroded over time. To repair the pipe and add durability, the existing culvert was extended approximately 4 meters and the pipe was cleaned before being relined with potable water friendly materials.
This job was designed and constructed by Hillery Group and all works met the relevant Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) Standard Specifications and Drawings.
As the works took place on a road frequented by caravans and B Doubles, it was ensured that there was minimal effect on local traffic. This ensured that Station Road remained usable by the public and did not cause any disruption to travellers, including holidaymakers and workers.
The installation of a head wall on the downstream side of the pipe and placement of rock both up and down stream ensured the pipe did not impact the natural water flow, while still ensuring the pipe was durable.
